To accept life,
Not with a hollow indifference, but deeply,
To clasp within the heart all that was left undone.
At times, to see the bottom of the glass,
At times, to see nothing at all,
As you are carried adrift upon the wings of night.
Acceptance—
To be at ease,
To strive without the sting of shame,
To grow calmer as the road unfolds before you.
Like a fragile shoot that breaks its shell,
Rising green beneath the first breath of dawn.
And most of all,
To find joy, at times,
In a life that offers no clear meaning,
In the riddles you may never untangle.
Why tremble so?
Shall arrows be loosed, shall bows be drawn
Against this boundless sea of trials?
Or shall the age-old pangs of the heart
At last be stilled into silence?
Think of it—
Through acceptance alone
Every sorrow of the heart may fall away.
Therefore,
Do not lose it—
That quiet power within your being,
The strength to rise,
The courage to become.
